It’s Senior picture time! I love working with seniors… they’ll climb on whatever rock you want and can be way more adventurous for photos. Krista has lived in Las Vegas her whole life and wanted something that showed the part of Las Vegas that she loved: the desert rocks by Red Rock Canyon, the desert landscape, and a place where she would go hiking with her family on the weekends as she grew up. Just on the other side of the entrance to Red Rock Canyon is the tucked away treasure of Calico Basin.
Last month I had the pleasure of shooting Samantha and Dan’s wedding that was held inside of Vanity Nightclub at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Las Vegas. The ceremony was held in the lobby right outside of the club and the festivities moved inside of the club as soon as the nuptials were over. There were a lot of areas of the club that were great to shoot in… like the front entry way hall that some of the shots took place in. I wanted to take that wall home or have panels of it to use in the future! It was a great look.
January 2014 issue of Vegas Rated magazine is full of awesome! There are two articles in this issue that feature photographs and an article that Christopher wrote on Jaleo. First one that is in the issue is the Strip Search article, which features Tim Hancock of DLXVRSN and Timothy James Photography+Creative. Tim also hosts a monthly event at Fizz Champagne bar inside of Caesars Palace for locals who are making an impact on the market here in Vegas. Apparently he’s doing 10 things at once!
Where do I begin to tell you the story about this wedding day? Making it back to my home state for a holiday season wedding was great. I started off my trip making time to see family for the holidays, and made my way up to Dallas for Angi and Stephan’s big day at the Scottish Rite Hall in downtown Dallas. There’s one thing about Texas you can never predict accurately, and that’s the crazy weather… especially in the winter. I had visited and took a tour of the Scottish Rite Hall during the summer time during a visit to the DFW area and had mentioned to the guide, “Well it’ll be December in Dallas so it’ll either be 80 degrees or it will be freezing…. or it will be 80 degrees in the morning and snowing by 3pm. One of the three.” He chuckled and said, “Definitely!”
Right before Thanksgiving I got an email from Sarah telling me about her Marine coming home for the holidays and had a limited time frame before he had to go back. Lucky for both of us, the scheduling worked perfectly! We decided on Floyd Lamb State Park in northern Las Vegas valley… but what I wasn’t prepared for were the awesome golden trees! It really didn’t seem like Vegas there.. a little oasis.
