This was sadly was my last high school senior photography session for the class of 2015, but we had the chance to go out one more time this year to Nelson's Landing after a massive rain storm the day before would have made the dry lake bed a mud bath... or so we thought! Either way we stuck to the plan and shot around the ghost town until the sun set behind the canyon walls.
Hands down I think the dry lake bed is my favorite location for the Vegas area, but this was my first shoot there for senior pictures. Avea definitely rocked her shoot... especially when I found out about being in cheer in the past when I asked her to jump for one of the shots. I didn't expect this petite girl to launch off the lake bed like she had springs in her bare feet.
Back in the fall, a few of us got together to put together a glamor photography shoot for fun out at the Nelson Ghost town and stop by the dry lake bed on the way back. Love both of these locations! This shoot featured Laura from the popular Las Vegas fashion blog Lollieshopping and make-up artist Tara of Tara Elaine MUA. The photos below also contain some behind the scenes shots and some self portraits I took of myself on the dry lake bed. I'm never in front of the camera!
Nothing better than hiding out and waiting for a surprise proposal to happen!
It's Senior picture time! I love working with seniors... they'll climb on whatever rock you want and can be way more adventurous for photos. Krista has lived in Las Vegas her whole life and wanted something that showed the part of Las Vegas that she loved: the desert rocks by Red Rock Canyon, the desert landscape, and a place where she would go hiking with her family on the weekends as she grew up. Just on the other side of the entrance to Red Rock Canyon is the tucked away treasure of Calico Basin.
