I met Steph and Shawna through an old friend of mine and was so glad I got to witness and capture this gay marriage. It was all DIY wedding at a friend's property outside of Dripping Springs, Texas (right next to Willie Nelson's property no less!) Everything was set up under a large oak tree. Flowers done by one of their friends. Many tears were shed during the sweet ceremony and many laughs were had since they're both as goofy as I am. Their wedding was also featured on Off Beat Bride!
This Aggie inspired wedding at The Springs Woodlands wedding venue was splattered with tons of maroon and peach. Yes yes, this wedding happened last spring but who's counting!? I'm celebrating their 1 year anniversary and new baby announcement with this blog. I love how so many Texas couples are crazy about their school and colors, especially former alumni from Texas A&M. Every single wedding party member donned their Aggie class rings for the day (I'm sure they never take them off!) and was important to capture their school pride. I also loved the florals from Dream Bouquet that included maroon calla lily and peach hydrangeas lining the aisles.
Texas is so large that, yes, even within the state it’s a destination wedding. Especially when you’re talking west Texas and driving 8 hours to the Alpine/Marfa area. What I loved about shooting out there was it reminded me of being back in Vegas with the desert landscape. Back to dry weather, dodging cacti, and hoping the snakes were too cold to come out. Sara and Jake love the Marfa area and visiting out west on their own so it made sense to have an Alpine Texas wedding. Family and friends traveled from all over the world, not just from their home base of Houston, to the little town and booked up the entire Holland Hotel on Main Street Alpine. They did a first look including Jake’s jaw dropping reaction on the balcony overlooking the town, the murals, and I found an awesome spot over the hills to get a different look for some portraits. Jake’s blue suit and Sara’s cream dress fit right in.
Let's just ignore my tardiness on blogging my most recently shot weddings and focus more on Jeff and Brittany's pretty fall Carriage House wedding in Conroe. Colors of maroon and pinks that totally fit in with their cowboy and country inspired theme. My favorite part of Carriage House weddings are the props the have already set up for you to pose your wedding party or couple: an old blue pickup truck, tree swings, and a pretty green archway to frame the ceremony site. Brittany and Jeff opted for a "first touch" instead of a first look around the corner of the doors to the ceremony site with Jeff's first look as he walked down the aisle.
Ngoc and Sean broke the usual traditions with their Sam Houston Park pre-wedding photoshoot. With their family putting together a very small intimate backyard wedding later that week, they still wanted some traditional looking bride and groom photos before the wedding day. So all dressed up like they were going to the chapel, we met up at Sam Houston Park in Downtown Houston in the late afternoon for their beautiful photo session. The session took place last July, swatting swarms of mosquitoes and sweating, but you can't tell that and in the end the photos turned out great! We walked down to the Sabine Bridge over Buffalo Bayou just in time to catch some awesome neon pink clouds floating over the downtown skyline and catch the sunset.
