Texas Wedding Photographer & Video - Houston Weddings

So how do you get married in Las Vegas? Destination elopement weddings are SO much fun. Over the 10 years I lived in Las Vegas, I photographed many weddings where it was just myself, the couple and the officiant. Read my how-to guide below on how to elope and have me come travel to photograph it of course! I offer complete packages and can help you plan it all.

Simple steps to elope in Las Vegas:

  1. Pick a spot to get married.

Some locations are free (hello desert landscape!) and most have a fee. Most notably a TON of venues/chapels in Las Vegas have in-house staff that you must use. If you want to not use their staff, then you have to buy out their contract to use your own vendor. For a lot of couples this makes it super easy one stop shopping, but for some this is super frustrating. I personally love the dry lake bed outside of Las Vegas, the Ghost Town, or near the mountains as more affordable and gorgeous alternatives.

  2. Visit the Marriage License office

You can easily do this pre-application online  (Clark County Marriage License site ) or in person. I suggest traveling a day early to go downtown the licensing bureau to obtain the license. They are open 7 days a week from 8am-Midnight at 201 E. Clark Avenue Las Vegas, NV 89101. Make sure you bring photo ID and funds to pay for the license (cash is best)

  3. Get married!

There’s no waiting period in Nevada so you could leave the licensing office and get married immediately. Make sure that your officiant is a registered person with the state of Nevada to perform the ceremony. If your family or friend is wanting to officiate, then they must receive a one time certificate to perform such ceremony.

    Extra tip:

Arrange transportation! Even with ride shares like Lyft and Uber, nothing is better than hiring a limo or car service to take you around for the day. It’s your wedding day after all!

Here’s some images from an elopement at the Flamingo

After previous clients had a nice experience eloping at the Flamingo Hotel I recommended the spot to Tegan when we were searching for a place that would be reasonable but also allow outside photographers (VERY few on the Strip!) They flew all the way from Australia to Las Vegas and planned it all from the other side of the world.

They got ready in their suite at the hotel, had their ceremony by the Chapel Falls and then we moved on to shoot around town. Just me, the couple and the officiant were present!

We had so much fun shooting from one end of Fremont to the other… and at the end I really couldn’t narrow down my selection for this blog. I loved so many of the photos since it was 20% wedding time and 80% having fun shooting with just the 3 of us… so many great portrait shots! Plus, with both of them being silly and letting their goofy side show, I had to include some of those images too.

This elopement was a bit bittersweet for me since it was my last elopement in Vegas while in residence still, and I’m so glad it was with such an awesome couple.

Then downtown to Fremont street for some fun photos against a graffiti wall and under the Vegas neon lights.
