Where do I begin to tell you the story about this wedding day? Making it back to my home state for a holiday season wedding was great. I started off my trip making time to see family for the holidays, and made my way up to Dallas for Angi and Stephan’s big day at the Scottish Rite Hall in downtown Dallas. There’s one thing about Texas you can never predict accurately, and that’s the crazy weather… especially in the winter. I had visited and took a tour of the Scottish Rite Hall during the summer time during a visit to the DFW area and had mentioned to the guide, “Well it’ll be December in Dallas so it’ll either be 80 degrees or it will be freezing…. or it will be 80 degrees in the morning and snowing by 3pm. One of the three.” He chuckled and said, “Definitely!”
Before I left Vegas I was looking at the reports, and a cold front was moving through right before the big day. Then the days passed and the report got worse and worse so I decided to leave a day early to head to Dallas. The roads were freezing as soon as I was pulling into downtown, but me and my assistant made it! The next morning everything was covered in snow and ice, a truly rare site to see downtown Dallas that way.
Even with the weather and everything, the wedding was so pretty and went off without a hitch! The wedding party, especially the groomsmen cracked me up. Posing like a Captain Morgan ad and joking around with each other before the ceremony. Thanks to everyone braved the temperatures in the teens that day when posing outside for a group shot and the first look with the bride and groom… especially the bride and groom standing in the frigid temperatures to complete my vision of the shot at night on the front steps. Finally, a big thanks to my aunt the photographer, for being an awesome assistant and making the drive up (even an extra day ahead) just to help out.
Here are some of my favorite shots of the beautiful wedding… one of my favorites was the flower girl and ring bearer looking out the window as Angi and Stephan had their first look. Was too cute!
